Users review: A very unconventional film that spends a lot of genres (murder / thriller / thriller / drama / fantasy), defies normal expectations and intense emotional experience. From the beginning you informed when the main character will be killed and who the murderer is, but still kept on the edge of the chair and surprised by subsequent discoveries. The story fits between reality (before and after the murder) and surreal afterlife realm between heaven and earth. Although tragic, poignant and dark matter, the film is uplifting, captivating and hauntingly beautiful throughout. As the credits rolled, I ran through the gamut of emotions and find aspects of the film struck me much later. It is difficult to imagine as to why this movie was extremely criticized. I can only assume that the story is not closely follow the source material (I have not read the book) or viewers appreciate the story being told from the perspective of girl, 13 years of age or critics were just being spiteful to successful director (directed by Peter Jackson and produced by Steven Spielberg). Positive (a) Original, imaginative, creative / script history. (B) an authentic, well-prepared, engaging characters. (C) an exciting and entertaining from start to finish. (D) The visual work of art - and the prospect of the film and the prospect of CGI / special effects. Definitely needed in the visualization (Blu-ray) HD. (E) The members of the main actors: Saoirse Ronan, Stanley Tucci. (F) Solid supporting actors: Susan Sarandon, Rachel Weisz, Mark Wahlberg. (E) subtle but powerful soundtrack. (G) topical rich and full of symbolism and metaphors.CONS (a) Childhood romantic relationships seem forced and only marginally believable. (B) The film seems to be heavily edited because of a long running time. Certain characters, scenes and themes could be achieved more. (C) visionary girl (Ruth) was a bit cliche? And a size. (D) appropriate resolution of target killers, but deeply rewarding.
